Hitting our Homeschool Stride

Ok, so I have to share since I feel like my last post was about how hard everything felt, and especially with adding homeschooling. We are staying at an RV park in New Hampshire and we decided to stay about a week. This has been sooooo good for all of us! We finally feel like we have stability. We've even started to feel better about homeschooling our children. I realized that it felt like everything was new before and it was all out of our comfort zone. Having to think through where we were going to stay, where we would get water, electricity, gas, food, dump our tanks, and then how we were going to teach our kids for the first time on our own. It was all too much to figure out everyday. We are now in a good place where we have a routine, it's predictable and we get through our school work every morning, then we reward ourselves with going to the pool or the game room. Most of our day-to-day logistics are figured out since we have full hook ups and groceries already. Not having to think about those things frees us up to be able to plan our day and to enjoy it together. We have had a great time figuring out what to do for P.E. and for recess as well. Sometimes we ride our bikes together on the RV park property, or we play air hockey or ping pong. Yesterday we had an AMAZING experience kayaking/SUPing down a river where we discovered painted turtles, great blue heron, fish and ducks as well. It was gorgeous and super fun to see who could spot a turtle first. That was all of our first time seeing turtles in the wild, how fun to experience that together.

Our next leg of our journey should be interesting, we are heading to some of the bigger cities in the U.S. mostly to drive through them, but we will be traveling every few days. It may be hard logistically again, but I think we all feel better about school and more confident to tackle whatever is next. It should be pretty awesome to see our nation's capital together and to share new experiences as a family.

Have a great weekend!

Here's our awesome kiddos getting ready for the new school year, grades 6th, 4th and 2nd!

    1. Thank you! That is a great perspective shift. Growing is painful and especially when we are growing a growth mindset. The hard things are worth it for sure!
